Exactly one year after introducing the simplified and quick settings page on Google, the company is updating and introducing new changes to the privacy and security of the ‘My Account’ page.
In the announced update, Google will now help you find your smartphone if you ever lose it or it gets stolen, by any chance. By following a few simple steps you could locate your phone, lock it to protect your data or call it to know if its in safe hands or not. You will soon be able to search for your device on Google by just typing in ‘I lost my phone’. This feature that is being introduced today will not only be available for Android users, but extend the security features to Google on iOS devices as well.
Google believes and is true in stating that today, we entrust our devices with all of lives private and personal data, but if we lose it or its goes missing then we lose all those memories and information stored on it. Before, one could use the Android Device Manager(if they have activated it) to locate their smartphone if they lose it, but Google wants to bring the functionality to all and club it within a single application.
In such an instance, Google wants to reduce the steps one has to take to reach and locate their device easily. Moving away from typing and introducing AI to the mix of the company’s services, the company now wants to allow you to just be able to simply say “Ok Google, show me my Google account” to open your My Account page. It can currently be operated only in English, more languages to be introduced soon.
In another awesome feature addiction, the company is working behind the scenes to link your identity to your device. So to make it easier to locate your device the company is expected to reveal a feature where-in you can search your own name on Google and see the My Account option on the very top, if you’re signed in.
Since the introduction of ‘My Account’ page last year, over one billion people around the world have used the page either to have a peek at the settings or to safe-guard their e-mail account from friends. This feature addition makes the ‘My Account’ page, the centralized access point for all your security and privacy settings across the company’s services.
btw, Happy Anniversary ‘My Account’ – let security and privacy always be your first priority.
