Bumper, a Bangalore based car care service providing startup has raised $500,000 in a seed round led by SAIF Partners. With the newly raised funds, the company now plans to build a knowledge house of technology experts in solving car related problems.

Along with that, the company will also use this capital to enhance customer experience by aiming to provided end-to-end solutions any of the service that it offers.

The startup was founded by Akhil Gupta this year. It is backed by Autoninja, a startup building technology for auto retailers, which is working with 100 dealers across 26 major cities in India.

The company is helping consumers in getting accurate quotes for any dent, paint or repair work for the car. It also facilitates booking appointments for its customers in more than 100 workshops in Bengaluru for any type of car repairs and servicing needs.

Akhil Gupta, Co-founder, Bumper, said,

Today, customers really don’t know which is the best workshop in town is what really needs to be done to their car and what is the right price for same.  We are trying to solve this problem by aggregating verified workshops and service providers. Our app makes it very easy to discover the right solution for your car problem and track real time status as the job is being done. This funding will allow us to build a valuable team with deeper understanding and passion for cars so as to deliver quality service to its customers.

Mukul Singhal, Principal, SAIF Partners said,

By 2016, India’s vehicle sales would surpass Brazil, Germany and Japan making India the third largest market. With more vehicles on road, there will be a great need for a platform that can aggregate supply and demand sides for the car aftermarket in an efficient manner.

According to CII-ACMA, the automotive after-market servicing business in India is pegged at about $2 billion, excluding spare parts, in 2015. In this space, Bumper will compete against the likes of Cartisan.
