Facebook

Earlier in August, we saw Facebook launch a Periscope-type live video streaming service called Live. While the service was then available just to celebrities, the social networking giant has announced that Live will now be open to Verified Pages too.

This means that sports teams, TV shows, bands, brands, authors, actors, everyone with a Verified Page can now start their own Live feed. The stream will be real-time but Facebook has designed Live in a way that will enable the user to save the stream and replay it later.

With this move, Facebook is slowly inching towards the ultimate goal of overtaking Periscope in its own generic battle. If that ever happened, the social networking website could go big on real-time video sharing. Live could be the future of celebrity interviews, breaking news and everything else.

And while the upgrade initially is just for Verified Pages, we can expect Live being opened up for general public in a few months time.
