Mobikwik, the independent mobile payments network with over 25 Million users, has announced some key strategic changes in its executive management.
The company announced the appointment of Manish Chaturvedi, ex-American Express, as their Chief Sales Officer. In this role, Manish will lead partnerships with retailers at MobiKwik. He will be responsible for driving acceptance of MobiKwik wallet across formats and industries besides managing key initiatives with banks and government entities.
Interestingly though, one of the key investors in Mobikwik’s massive $25 Million funding round was American Express, to which Manish previously belonged to.
In another key announcement, MobiKwik announced the elevation of Mrinal Sinha, who joined MobiKwik in 2014 as MobiKwik’s Head of Strategy, to the position of Chief Operating Officer. He was earlier leading the strategic roadmap of the company, identifying key opportunities for talent and technology acquisition and focusing on alliances to kick start new revenue lines within the company.
His new position as COO will involve directing, administering, and coordinating the operational activities of the business in line with the policies, goals, and objectives established for the company. Mrinal will also have the mandate to drive multiple CXO-level functions at MobiKwik.
While Mobikwik’s run among users has been good, it received major setback when it was not granted a payments bank license, which its rival PayTM was. The company tells me, that they have applied for the license in RBI’s fresh allotment and hope to get it soon.
