While instant translation of usual web-text continues to be a hassle even today, Google’s translate on the other hand, has taken translation to another level. Continuing to set benchmarks in translation services, Google has today announced that its translation tool will now instantly translate text within pictures, in a whopping 27 languages.

The tech behind this latest Google translate feat, comes from its 2014 acquisition of WordLens, a visual translation tool which translates any text within a picture, instantly. Google however, has obviously worked more over that tech to come up with today’s development.

Today, that feature is expanding today from 7 languages to 27 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. The update is rolling out over both iOS and Android.

On how Google manages to achieve such instant translations even at slower internet networks (the market for which this app has been primarily developed), Google says its the same artificial neural intelligence network which it more recently elaborated during a Google Trends update.
