BMW’s performance division, as always, is on the verge of putting something incredible on the Frankfurt motor show’s stage. The all new and much talked about BMW i8 is here. As rumored though, its not called i8M but, it does wear all the accessories required to compete with one of the M division cars (including the new M4).

And when you read “all new”, believe me, it is all new under the hood. The so called sports performance i8, with the feel of a spaceship through those huge scissor doors and a futuristic cockpit, has turned itself into a real supercar now.

It now boasts as much as 450 ponies (HP) with the acceleration being at almost the same rate i.e. 0-60mph in about 3.5 secs. The car now offers a 2.0L turbo and the electric rear wheel drive system is not fettled with.

By launching this car, BMW is proving that it means serious business with the TESLA. With the amount of cars losing to the Tesla Model S on a drag strip and the car almost breaking the dyno, BMW has finally entered, or should we say, resurrected to keep anything out of business.

To be honest, like the rest of you, I too was a little disappointed with the lack of an M badge. Although, the specs do fill in that hole, but only an actual track-test would tell if it really was worthy of the badge.
