Yahoo, Yahoo Mail

Yahoo has released a couple of brand new features to cater to its 200 million plus mail users. Yahoo Mail’s mobile application will now be able to sync your smartphone’s pictures to your PC while also identifying calls through a brand new caller ID feature that has made its way to the application. Let’s take a look.

If you use the Yahoo Mail application on mobile, you might discover that it is now equipped with a couple of new features — assuming that you have the latest update that is. First up is the caller ID feature that uses a very clever e-mail integration to show you the identity of callers who are not saved in your address book, but who have sent you their number in some e-mail. Or if an e-mail with their details in it exists in your Inbox.

The caller ID identifies the caller by comparing it to numbers saved in your inboxs and by the numbers that can be found in the signature lines of the emails you have received. On iOS though, you will have to toggle the switch for the Yahoo mail application by going to Settings >> Phone >> Call Blocking & Identification to on first. Once done, the Yahoo Mail app will also start showing you names for numbers existing in your call history that had called you up earlier.

The next feature is the photo upload function and it is even more interesting than caller ID. What this feature does basically, is integrate “Tripod” within your Yahoo mail app. Tripod, in case you are unaware of it, is a picture and video sharing platform that was created from Flickr.

So basically, all the pictures in your camera roll are made available on the Yahoo e-mail client on the desktop. And that is exactly the idea. Thanks to the Tripod integration, you can easily mail pictures that are saved in your smartphone, through your desktop.  What’s more, photos can be browsed using a keyword search feature.

To check out the new features, make sure you have the latest Yahoo mail application — iOS V. 4.13 and Android V. 5.13 — installed on your smartphones. Meanwhile, both of these features are pretty cool and will go a long way towards adding to the overall experience of using the Yahoo mail application. The app is actually quite popular considering that you can login with other prominent e-mail provides as well.
