Over the past few weeks, a section of Apple Watch owners have been posting online, about cracks seen on their smartwatch’s side rounded glasses on the screen. The cracks, according to users have been coming up rather mysteriously, without them bumping into anything or any physical stress on the watch.

Well apparently, this is for real and Apple has taken cognizance of the same. According to the Cueprtino giant, the company has determined that under “very rare circumstances”, a crack may form along the rounded edge of the screen in aluminum models of an Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The crack may begin on one side and then may continue around the screen as shown in the image below.

Hence, to take care of the situation, Apple will has now rolled out a free screen replacement program for such watches. The company will only be replacing the screen in cases wherein the exact mentioned symptoms have been found to exist. Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the screen on eligible Apple Watch units that exhibit this type of crack, free of charge.

The process however will take approximately 5 business days. In all cases, your device will be sent to an Apple Repair Center. Your Apple Watch will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program.
