Android One, Google’s flagship program to make the latest Android available to consumers via affordable devices, is getting a major shot in the arm today. Xiaomi has come up with its third, flagship-level Android One smartphone, the Mi A3 in India, striving to retain its position as the top-selling smartphone brand in the country. According to the research firm IDC, the company sold 36.9 million handsets in India, putting Samsung at the second spot in terms of shipments. By launching A3, Xiaomi seeks to expand the A series family powered by Android One.

Mi A3 features an AI triple camera with 48MP + 8MP + 2MP. The camera has a Sony 48MP sensor and a depth sensor with 118 degrees ultra-wide lens. All three cameras together provide great depth and details to the images. A3 also features an excellent 32MP selfie camera with numerous AI-assisted modes and effects such as AI Beautify, AI Portrait Mode and Palm Shutter.

As far as performance is concerned, it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 AIE processor which is focused on providing more by consuming less power. Essentially, A3 focuses on providing quality performance on less power. The smartphone has a 4030mAh battery with 18W fast charging. This accounts for a standby time of more than a day so that you can watch videos or play games without compromising on power.

Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the 6.088-inches AMOLED display comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Also, the screen can be unlocked using the Face unlock feature.

Powered by Google’s Android One assures regular security updates for three years, and Android OS updates for two years. Also, Mi A3 is Xioami’s third Android One smartphone, the previous two being Mi A1 and A2.

Mi A3 comes in two variants: 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB. The 64GB variant is priced at ₹12,999 and the 128GB variant is priced at ₹15,999. The smartphone comes in three color variants – white, blue and grey.

Mi A3 will be available online from Amazon India (starting 23rd August) and Xiaomi’s online store.
