The Wedding Brigade

The Wedding Brigade, a Mumbai-based wedding planner, has secured $1 million as a part of its pre-Series A funding round. The investment comes from Japan-based AET fund and Blume Ventures. The round also saw participation from Allana Group and other angel investors.

The newly infused capital will be used by the company to scale its new initiative of creating and operating wedding banquet spaces and to strengthen its existing content and e-commerce businesses.

Commenting on this development, Sanna Vohra, founder and chief executive of the venture, said:

By managing the actual wedding ceremony, we will finally be able to offer an end-to-end stress-free solution for couples planning their wedding, from finding ideas on our blog, to shopping for clothing and jewelry on our e-commerce platform, to booking vendors through our concierge service, to finally hosting and executing the actual wedding in one of our banquets.

The company, which was started by Sanna Vohra in 2014 offers content, shopping, and services platform for Indian weddings. It enables users to browse wedding inspiration content, buy wedding-related products like clothing, costume jewelry, and gifts, and book wedding-related services such as venues, photographers, make-up artists and more.

Last year, the company had raised around $1 million in its pre-Series A funding round, which was led by Blume Ventures. Czar Capital, Mountain Pine Capital, LetsVenture and Keiretsu Forum. Prior to that, the company had secured Rs. 4 crores from Blume Ventures.

In the past few years, a number of players have entered in the wedding planning space. Recently, budget hospitality chain OYO also entered this space with the acquisition of .in. US-based venture firm CerraCap Ventures estimates the Indian market for wedding-related services to be worth $40 billion.
