Xiaomi Redmi Go

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone brand which is currently dominating the Indian smartphone market, is gearing up to launch new models in the Indian market. Reports suggest that the company is planning to launch three phones in India — Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go. So far, the company has launched Redmi Note 7 in China and is yet to launch the other two models.

Ahead of the official announcement, the renders of Redmi Go smartphone have surfaced online, revealing how the phone will look. Further, the upcoming smartphone’s specifications have also been leaked. Leaker Ishan Agarwal shared these images which were first spotted by the Phillippines-based Revu.

It is evident from the leaked images that the Redmi Go is the company’s entry-level smartphone and will be placed below the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones. As the name suggests, the phone will be running Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), which is stripped down version of the Android operating system for entry-level hardware.

The leaked specifications of the smartphone reveals that it will feature a 5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC will be powering the phone, along with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.

It will come equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera at the rear with f/2.0 aperture and support for HDR and flash. On the front side, there will be a 5-megapixel f/2.2 shooter. The Dual SIM smartphone will support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and Micro-USB port. It will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

The upcoming Android Go-powered smartphone will be available in two color options — Black and Blue. While the company has not yet revealed the launch date, we expect the smartphone to launch in the Phillippines and India soon, most probably by the end of next month.
