mi max 2

As promised earlier, Xioami has today launched the successor of its Mi Max smartphone, dubbed as Mi Max 2, in China. Just like its predecessor, the major highlight of this device is its massive screen and big battery capacity.

The smartphone comes with a metal unibody design, but this one now comes with improved one-hand usage. This is one of the most important factors, considering the sheer size of the Mi Max 2 smartphone.

The Mi Max 2 has the same 6.44-inch full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels) display that we saw on the original Mi Max device. As for under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 Ghz, and this is the processor that has a 14nm FinFET design.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 2 with 4GB RAM and there is no 6GB RAM version of the smartphone, as was being hoped. As of internal storage, the device comes with 64GB and 128GB storage variants. Further, the storage can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

On the software side, the company’s own MIUI powers the smartphone, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back of the handset. The phone also features an IR blaster, that can act as a universal remote controller for the electronic appliances.

The Mi Max 2 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and dual-LED flash. For this, the Chinese upstart is using Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels. As per the company, the phone comes with an identical primary image sensor. There’s also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The smartphone also supports Quick Charge 3.0, rated to charge the massive 5300mAh battery up to 68 percent in just one hour. With such massive capacity battery, the company is claiming that the phone can last for up to two days on a single charge.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 16,000) for the 64GB storage model, and the 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 19,000). The phone will be going on sale in China from June 1.
