Samsung has today launched its two new smartphones in the Indian market — Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7. These are the latest 2017 edition devices, which were first launched in Russia, ahead of CES in Las Vegas.

Both the smartphones will go on sale in India from 15th March, with pre-booking of the devices opening today on Samsung E-Store as well as in offline stores. The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is priced at ₹28,990 while the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is priced at ₹33,490. They will be available in two color options — Black Sky and Gold Sand.

The major difference between the new models and the earlier models is the design. The 2017 edition A5 and A7 comes with a Galaxy S7 like design. Also, another major change lies in the camera department and the phones are rated IP68, meaning they’re water and dust resistant.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) sports a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, while the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) comes with a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, both smartphones are powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM. The devices have 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

On the back, there is a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash and a f/1.9 aperture. Both phones feature a 16-megapixel front camera as well, with a f/1.9 aperture.

As for connectivity options, the devices support 4G (LTE Cat. 6) and VoLTE along with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and NFC (they support Samsung Pay, expected to arrive in India). There is also a USB Type-C port coupled with a 3.5 mm audio jack. Both handsets also feature a fingerprint sensor for added protection and have Always-On Display.

Coming to the battery capacity, the Samsung Galaxy A5 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy A7 comes packed with 3,600mAh battery. The phones are running on relatively old Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
