Airbus Bizlab, the global aerospace business accelerator floated by aviation giant Airbus, commences yet another season of its start-up accelerator programme in Bengaluru. The accelerator group has selected seven startups after sorting 137 applications received from nine countries. Moreover, six of these seven startups are Indians contributing their ideas towards the development of aerospace technology.

Bruno Gutierres, Global Head Airbus BizLab said on the launch,

The overwhelming response to our Bengaluru call for applications, the quality of ideas and the passion of entrepreneurs; it’s just quite something.

This programme gives young startups a chance to present their ideas revolving around solutions for aerospace technology — robotics, data, IoT, analytics, virtual/augmented reality etc. in front of Airbus executives. On being selected the startups are provided with Airbus coaches, technical and business experts, free hosting, a Demo Day with Airbus decision makers, venture capitalists, Airbus customers for six months in order to accelerate their efforts.

The previous season for the programme witnessed participation of 12 startups which were selected from a batch of 200 applications. These startups went through six-month tailored training and mentored guidance under NUMA’s experienced mentors and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.

The selected batch this year includes 5 startups from Bengaluru, one from Mumbai and last one from Singapore. These startups comprises of Earth2Orbit which will create GeoIntelligence data products leveraging satellite imagery; eFlight offering services to business aircraft pilots to plan their schedules through eFlight’s cloud hosted website and app; Neewee — which will detect and diagnose issues with the use of AI and machine learning algorithms; Stelae Technologies,  SYmbosim, Accelo from Mumbai and Innovative Binaries from Singapore.

The initiative was established back in March 2015 with its first accelerator programme in November 2016. The said season was launched in the presence of French Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, Jean-Marc Ayrault, Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India and Mr. Francois Gautier, Consul General of France in Bengaluru. Gutierres further added,

Each startup we have selected carries the potential to shape the future of aerospace. Our job is to help them realize their potential.
