Google Calender now integrates with Google Fit and Apple Health

Google

Google launched Goals last year. It was hoped that the feature would allow the more weak willed of us to schedule and track goals. User could set goals and attempt to reach them, while also regular help and reminders from Google. The company has now announced a brand new update that will let users connect Google Fit and Apple Health to the fitness goals you set in Goals.

Announcing the update, Google said,

New Year’s resolutions are a lot easier to create than they are to keep. Luckily, Goals in Google Calendar is there to help you find time for the things that matter. Set a goal like “run 3 times a week,” and Calendar will help you find the time and stick to it.

How the integrations works is pretty simple. You set your goal and Google will then track it through the integration. Google Fit and Apple Health are both services that track the physical activity performed by users. Adding Calender into the mix allow users to get a third party into the mix and hope that they will do better at getting up in the morning everyday and going for their run.

The best part here is of course, the presence of a third party into the mix. Most fitness tracking applications work by letting you tick done, once you have manually performed an activity. However, the goals we set using these applications have a way of not being completed. What’s more, we often tend to click done even when we haven’t even gotten out of bed — just to make ourselves feel better about ourselves.

The company will also tailor things around your schedule.

With this integration, future goal times will be even more tailored based on when you’re most likely to complete them. Say you set a goal to run at 6:30 every other morning but aren’t actually hitting your stride until 7:15 — Google Calendar has you covered and will adjust accordingly
