Samsung, Samsung Pay

Samsung is insistently trying to distant itself from the explosive events of the recent past, and speculations about its upcoming smartphone – the Galaxy S8 can surely help it move on and start afresh. Thus, the Korean tech behemoth is looking to introduce exceptional new features and up the ante with the Galaxy S8, launching sometime in March next year.

According to reports from Korean publication ET News, Samsung is working on the improvement of the selfie camera with the inclusion of auto-focus (AF) functionality. It is one of the rare features of the front shooter that the Korean giant is looking to introduce. These cameras are mostly fixed focus and less important as compared to the rear cameras, which are pixel-packed.  But, the front camera is steadily gaining important in today’s internet age, thanks to social networking apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and others.

Thus, Samsung is now planning to introduce this function to improve the quality of your selfie pictures. It is embedding an encoder-type AF actuator for the front camera, state sources aware of the development. The AF actuator is a minimal (but important) part that goes into the camera module and controls the positioning of lenses to adjust focus automatically. The cameras with this module are capable of finding an optimal focal distance according to where subjects are located in its field of sight.

Till date, Samsung had been using a fixed-focus front camera in their smartphones as they were relatively smaller and cheaper as compared to the aforementioned AF module. But the company is possibly looking to move past its measly 5-megapixel front shooter. It now wants to fill the exceeding appetite of customers with a new and completely redesigned camera module which can take sharp photos, even of people at a distance.

People are starting to take more selfies and number of demands for cameras that take selfies with higher qualities is increasing. It is heard that Samsung Electronics has decided to install front actuators for Galaxy S8 in order to differentiate its flagship smartphone,

In addition, the rumor mill for the Galaxy S8 has been going berzerk and churning out new information every other day. This flagship device from Samsung is expected to much larger in size as compared to previous iterations — to fill in the gaping void left behind by the Note 7. The device will also pack in a new 10nm processor, coupled with a virtual assistant powered by its recent acquisition Viv. Samsung also plans to follow pursuit to Apple and get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack to produce a beastly device, ahead of its time.
