Apple has decided to include iPhones into the roster of products it refurbishes and sells online. The company has added iPhones to its online store. Users will now be able to get hold of some of the world’s most premium phones and somewhat more affordable prices.

Apple’s online store has always include Macbooks, iPads and so on. The store has been a good place to save a few hundred dollars on Apple products — assuming of course, that the very latest technology isn’t much of a concern for you. The store lets you purchase refurbished devices directly from Apple.

What’s more, since these devices are refurbished by Apple and backed with a 1-year guarantee from the manufacturer, you can buy them with much more confidence than buying second-hand iPhones from elsewhere. You also get the option to extend that warranty to two years by paying out $129 — a scheme also available with new iPhones.

So basically, you are not missing out on anything by buying a refurbished devices. Apple is also including the same Lighting cable, power adapter, and headphones as the new models. However, the store currently stocks only the iPhone 6S models in 16GB capacities and 6S plus models in 16GB and 64GB capacities. This is a bit confusing since both of these storage options were removed after Apple decided to increase storage capacity to 32GB and 128GB with the launch of the iPhone 7.

According to Apple,

We test and certify all Apple refurbished products and include a 1-year warranty. All refurbished iPhone models also include a brand new battery and outer shell. Supply is limited and availability is guaranteed once we receive your full payment.

Almost all the iPhones that are currently listed, come with a 15 percent discount from Apple, on account of them being refurbished as opposed to brand new.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if the store continues listing refurbished iPhones once these 6 and 6S models are sold out. I am guessing they will, but you cant be too certain. That said though, if you have been iPhone-hunting and have no reservations against a phone refurbished by Apple itself –well, now is your chance to save some bucks by picking up a refurbished device from Apple’s online store.
