Hired, trusted by Silicon Valley giants like Facebook and Uber was founded with a mission to get everyone a job they love. It provides a curation service where it selects the top 5 to 7 percent of the talent from its platform, using machine learning and human input, and makes them available to companies looking to hire on its platforms.

What makes the network more disruptive, is its recruitment model, which lets firms approach the candidates, rather than the other way round. This simply gives candidates the control and also, the platform provides complete transparency around salary and equity.

And now, the firm is opening a new regional headquarters in Melbourne with a team in of seven. Since the platform’s soft launch in Australia in February, the company’s local general manager Sascha Gray says, Hired has signed up over 17,500 local job candidates and more than 500 companies including Uber and Canva. According to her, there’s a real appetite in the startup sector for top-tier talent where many look to scale their businesses. She says the likes of Seek and LinkedIn aren’t designed to cater to this need.

Victoria’s Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Philip Dalidakis said,

Hired’s decision to open its Australia and New Zealand headquarters in Melbourne confirms our reputation as a leading global location for tech and business investment. Victoria has more tech graduates than anywhere else in the country and having Hired’s innovative jobs platform focusing on high-skill roles will be a significant driver of more jobs and better jobs for Victorians into the future.

Founded in 2012 by 99Designs founder Matt Mickiewicz and Mehul Patel, Hired is currently valued at more than $200 million. It has offices in six markets — Australia, the US, UK, France, Canada, Singapore and plans to expand to a variety of industries and job categories.
