Zappfresh has appointed Ankur Shrivastava as its new Chief Technology Officer. The appointment comes amidst the Gurgaon based company’s endeavors towards building India’s first and only 360 degree farm tech supply chain architecture.
Zappfresh is a Gurgaon based startup that sells raw meat and other associated ready-to-eat products. The company offers over 40 items including chicken, mutton and pork and cold cuts including ham, sausages and salami. The company claims to be delivering over 50,000 orders a month and its USP lies in the freshness of its products and the fact that, it promises product delivery within 90 minutes.
The portal has been gaining popularity among Non-vegetarians as well as organizations — restaurants, hotels — that serve non-veg to their customers. It has also raised several rounds of investments with its most recent funding round in August, where it raised capital from a group of investors including Ashvin Chadha of the Indian Angel Network.
The company is attempting to build India’s first and only 360 degree farm tech supply chain architecture that will help connect farmers, vendors and retail channels with each other. Obviously, such an enterprise is going to be heavy in tech and as such, Ankur, with his years of experience, is likely to be the perfect candidate.
Speaking on the topic, Shruti Gochhwal, Co-founder, Zappfresh said,
We are very pleased to have Ankur join the Zappfresh team. He is a passionate, hands on technology enthusiast with over 10 years of work experience and has a great reputation as a quick decision maker along with building high performance teams from the scratch. Under his expertise, we aim to build India’s first and only 360 degree farm to fork supply chain enabling government approved farm level procurements. With the in-house tech team, led by Ankur, we are streamlining the broken supply chain in order to give our customers, clients and channel partners the best, cost-effective meat buying experience.
Speaking about his new responsibilities, Ankur said,
Technology is interesting and even more when it can help make systems and processes simpler and convenient for every user. This is what brought us together; the idea behind creating a platform for every stakeholder involved from the first stage to the last mile in meat delivery. I am excited to work on developing the technology which will help in real-time data and assets tracking for attaining transparency in the meat supply chain system.
At Zappfresh, Ankur will be responsible for building real time data and assets tracking systems. He will also be creating systems that are able to facilitate visibility and automated tagging of inventory even in offline systems. Finally, Farm-Tech will also be reducing and optimizing the time taken to get the product from farmers to consumers, along with forecasting demand for different products.
So yes, Zappfresh’s new CTO is likely to have a full plate. However, Ankur appears to be quite equal to the task. After starting is career at Infosys, Ankur also worked at MobiKwik and was part of the core team. There, he was responsible for building high performance systems that supported hundreds of thousand transactions everyday.
Zappfresh’s new CTO also holds interest in statistical analysis of data and user behavior pattern analysis. These latter skills might also come in handy during demand forecasting, which play a large role for a company that deals in perishable goods, such as Zappfresh.
