We are seeing a lot of shuffling going on at some of the highest levels of corporate hierarchy in the country, as companies compete to entice some of the best minds in business to come work for them. Along the same stream Tata Group’s business arm, Tata Cliq, has hired Ex-Amazon and Paytm executive Vikas Purohit as its COO.

In his new position, Purohit will be reporting to Ashutosh Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of CLiQ and will be handling a variety of diverse responsibilities.

As per a company spokesperson,

Vikas Purohit will be joining as COO to spearhead our commercial and seller management function.

Purohit is a relatively young executive to be taking up a post that is usually second in importance, only to the CEO. However, he has already worked at some of the best companies in the sector, including a two-year stint at Amazon India, that was followed by a tenure at Paytm as a senior vice-president for its payment bank. He quit Paytm in June after being with them for around 6 months and was said to be working upon his own startup idea.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Purohit has a significant amount of experience under his belt and has worked for companies including Tommy Hilfiger, Reliance Brands and Madura Garments for over 10 years.

CLiQ is a rather recent venture of the Tata group. Announced 4 months ago, the portal seeks to make the process of shopping easier for the Indian masses. It currently offers products across apparel, footwear and electronics from over 1,200 brands and plans to further expand its presence, soon. Which is also why the company is keen to expand its team.

As we move towards scaling up our business and strengthening our footprint in the Indian ecommerce space, we will be building teams and bringing on board some of the best minds from the industry.

A bibliophile and a business enthusiast.
