Launched in 2014, Taiwanese travel e-commerce platform KKday allows users to connect with local tours from all over the world. It provides services in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and has officially launched the platform in Singapore.

Believing that authentic experience is the core value of “Traveling”, KKday has collected more than 6000 worldwide experiences from their professional providers and unique local experts from 53 countries and 174 cities, including the Americas and Europe.

In conjunction with the media launch hosted by Paul Twohill and KKday’s CEO, KKday’s successful debut event in Singapore was complimented by the announcement of #taiwantrippin, a new digital campaign for Singapore which gives participants an opportunity to win a seven-day holiday in Taiwan for four people worth up to S$8,000 (US$5,800). As Millennials (25 – 34 years old) make up about 55% of KKday’s customer base, the campaign attempts to reach out to new users and wanderlusters in Singapore who are active on social media.

It was KKday’s CEO, Ming Chen’s personal dire experiences with travel that prompted him to start KKday. In an official press statement he mentioned,

KKday aims to create an authentic and enjoyable travel experience. We create a customised itinerary for all our customers. For example, we know that Singaporeans love visiting Jiufen, Shifen, and Pingxi so we coordinated a tour especially for Singaporeans to experience in a day.

The startup had raised $4.5 million in a Series A round led by AppWorks Ventures with participation by 91Capital earlier this year. . The startup has been working on its expansion plans since the fund raise and its goal is to be Asia’s leading travel e-commerce platform for travel experiences. It generated over TW$30 million (US$914,000) in January 2016 alone and has grown from 20 to 100 employees in just a year.

KKday observed that vacation packages provided by traditional travel agencies did not fulfill increasing expectations for unique, personalized, and tailor-made tour experiences. So, to solve this dilemma of travelers, it allows them to plan independent travels and speed up the process of booking local travel experiences through its online platform by connecting travellers and local tour providers.
