Social mobile learning platform Teamie, has secured a $1.1 million in pre-Series A round of funding. It was led by Singapore-based ACP Venture Capital along with Spring Seeds Capital. The funding round also saw participation of Phystech Ventures, a VC mainly focussed on FinTech, EdTech, Healthcare IT and an angel investor.

The company will use funds for research and development of its product. It wants to build new capabilities and deeper learning analytics to create a personalized learning experience and further improve user-engagement and learning outcomes. Teamie plans to grow the team and drive partnerships to offer local delivery and support in both the education and enterprise segments across Asia Pacific.

Teamie seeks to create a collaborative learning community where learners can share, ask and discuss online with their peers and teachers. Ovum, a business intelligence firm in a report ranked Teamie as a Market Challenger amongst other online learning platform.

 

Social platforms have become the de-facto mode of communication, and together with smartphones and cloud computing, they have changed how we live, work, play and learn.

Teamie aims to consolidate its position as the dominant regional player amongst learning platforms in the next two to three years. It wants to disrupt traditional learning platforms with innovative solutions that increase learner and instructor engagement and productivity.

Venture capitalists ACP and Phystech Ventures see Asia Pacific as a high growth market for both education institutions and enterprises. They say Teamie has a competitive advantage that complements the infrastructure.
