Joining the ever-growing, surging list of startups offering food delivery operations in world’s third largest railway network, KhanaGadi has today announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in its seed round from 50K Ventures, a Hyderabad based investment firm.

With this fresh capital boost, it is now planning to utilize the funds to expand its network, adopt a more aggressive marketing strategy and further build its team. The startup is also planning to focus towards niche segments such as diabetic or cardiac travellers who do not have many options for food during their travel.

The Jaipur-based company was founded by Amit Deep Kumar last year. It provides food delivery service at around 200 railway stations across India and claims to be clocking about 100 to 150 orders per day. By next year, the company is aiming to serve more than 1,000 customers a day.

KhanaGadi.com is a 360 degree and comprehensive online food delivery platform from Jaipur which strives to deliver consumer’s favorite food items across the delivery channels like Home Delivery, Bus Delivery , Train Delivery and Home made food Services through its robust technology platform, unique vendor network, panel of home chefs, satellite kitchens and efficient back end customer service center.

Using the platform, you can order food during your train journey right on your seat. The company is offering variety of cuisine, including Indian, South Indian, Punjabi, Gujarati, Jain Food, Mughlai, Bengali, Rajasthani and much more.

It is offering carefully designed and pre-portioned food menu with a gamut of choices in Meals, Snacks, Main Course and Breakfast items with over 25,000+ food items that you can order.

Commenting about this funding, Sanjay Enishetty, Managing Partner of 50K Ventures, said,

KhanaGadi has hand-picked the particular space where travellers truly undergo a great deal of struggle to find decent food. With KhanaGadi solving such a major issue that most of the Indians face, it will be a major game changer in the railway meal delivery space.

There are several startup in this segment which delivers food to the travelers during their train journey. It will be competing against the likes of TravelKhana, RailRider, TravelZaika, RailRestro, etc.

Last month, Zoopindia partnered with IRCTC as one of its official food aggregator for ordering food in trains. Last year, Hello Curry also tied up with IRCTC to offer similar service to travellers.
