Winter is coming, and its coming early folks! Star India’s online video streaming platform, Hotstar has launched its monthly subscription service called Hotstar Premium to offer the latest TV Shows and movies from the US. And just to break the ice on my first line, Game Of Thrones will be aired on Hotstar, unspoiled, in real-time, just as it gets broadcasted in the US.

The twitter handle of Hotstar caused a stir among GoT fans this morning when it announced the service along with the premiere of the first episode of Season 6 just minutes after it was telecasted in the US.

And according to the tweet, it is completely “unspoiled”, i.e, uncensored. This was validated by many Twitter users who flooded the Hotstar timeline with “thank you” tweets. Hotstar Premium will offer a free trial for one month and after that, users will need to pay 199 INR per month to avail the service.

However, users need to sign up with a credit card to register themselves for the service. And since there are limited credit card users in India, many fans have expressed their disappointment over the same. But worry not, as per FAQs on Hotstar, debit card payment will also be enabled in future.

In addition to GoT, under Hotstar Premium, Hotstar will also stream many other popular TV shows such as True Detective, Silicon Valley, Veep, Vinyl, Leftovers, Entourage, Band of Brothers, The Sopranos, The Newsroom, etc.

There are reportedly 36 TV shows listed in the catalogue of Hotstar whereas 70 Hollywood movies. However, the movie catalogue does not seem exciting enough due to its limited collection and limited new movies, latest being from 2015.

Nevertheless, by cashing in on the popularity of one of the most pirated TV shows at present, Hotstar seems to have made a masterstroke to attract users to its paid subscription service and also to set itself above other streaming services in India.
