The recently concluded Mobile World Congress saw most of the smartphone biggies (Samsung Galaxy S7 series, LG G5, Xiaomi Mi 5) displaying their flagship devices. But one of them (or a former biggie if one may say), HTC seemed to be holding its horses being content with unveiling its mid-range smartphones such as Desire 530, Desire 630, and Desire 825.
However, the Taiwanese phone company has now given a glimpse of what could be its flagship device this year. The company recently tweeted a picture showing the chamfered edges of a phone with a hashtag “powerof10”. No prizes for guessing though that 10 may mean the next generation of its One devices the last of which was One M9.
It is not that One M9 has been free from leaks like probably most of the new smartphone devices. Evan Blass, who has previously successfully leaked the smartphone pics, also posted a picture of the device which he claimed to call HTC One M10 in white. Although, the phone in picture does not look like the teaser image released by the company.
Unfortunately, we do not have any official specific details of the device yet except for a small claim made by the company CFO. In a recent interview to CNET, HTC’s CFO Chialin Chang said,
We can confidently say that HTC will have a very, very compelling camera experience. We’re making this comment after we’ve seen what’s going on in the market.
Going by the rumours, though, HTC One M10, internally codenamed “Perfume”, is expected to come with a 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED touch screen powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. It is also rumored to have 4GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage, and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button.
And as far as camera is concerned, it is expected to sport the same rear camera sensor used in Nexus 6P, i.e, a 12 megapixel Sony IMX377 camera sensor, with 1.55um pixel size, laser autofocus, and phase detection auto focus (PDAF) at the back. This would be coupled with a 5-megapixel UltraPixel front camera powered by Samsung s5k4e6 sensor.
HTC is expected to come up with the main event to unveil the phone in early April and the phone could hit the US retail in May.
