Developer and Tech Geeks get ready, Google has announced the schedule of this year’s I/O. Yes folks, a recent announcement by CEO Sundar Pichai puts the date of the highly awaited event from May 18th – 20th.
And the location? Google’s own backyard, the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. What’s more, this year’s event is even more special considering the fact that the I/O 2016 will mark 10 years to when Google’s first developer day was held at the Googleplex.
Speaking on the topic, Sundar Pichai said,
Exciting news: we’re only 18 weeks away from Google I/O! 2016 is going to be a special year for us — we held our first developer day 10 years ago at the Googleplex. To celebrate our 10th anniversary of developer gatherings, we’ll be hosting I/O in our backyard at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA from May 18th – 20th.
The events are usually held in San Francisco and the new location marks a major — albeit exciting — departure from tradition. Also, the mere fact that Google is holding the event outdoors has us already dreaming of drones and self-driving cars and giant balloons and robots and…and….well, you get the idea.
Its been almost a decade since Google first started its annual ritual of the Google I/O in 2008. The events have always proved to be very exciting and played host to sessions that focus on some of the most cutting-edge technology out there — or even not out there, yet. That is why, CEO Sundar Pichai’s recent announcement related to this year’s I/O schedule has us all worked up.
Meanwhile, those who would not be able to join the event in person, are promised their share of fun via I/O Live and through Extended I/O events, that will be held in many local communities. And of course, there is our own special coverage of the entire geeky extravaganza as well.
