Xiaomi has churned out yet another brand new device. The Redmi 3 has been unveiled by the company a couple of days before its scheduled launch on Tuesday, and the device packs some of the most impressive features around its expected price point. Lets take a look.
Xiaomi has gone for an all metal body with its latest smartphone and the back panel has been specially crafted, taking inspiration from what the company calls “the stars in the night sky.” The device measures 139.3×69.6×8.5mm and weighs a modest 144 grams. The front panel of the phone is covered by a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display and the device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with Adreno 405 GPU.
Memory wise, you get a decent 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 128GB. The device can be expected to delight shutter-bugs with its 13-megapixel primary camera with fast autofocus and another 5-megapixel front snapper, the latter of which supports 1080p full-HD video recording.
The device also packs two sim slots, one of which also doubles as a SD card storage. While the company has refrained from announcing the Android version — though rumours point at Lollipop — on the device, the MIUI 7 interface has so far, been confirmed.
That is just the regular stuff. The Redmi 3 also boasts of a couple of features that differentiate it from its counterparts. First off, the device gets its juice from a massive 4,100 mAh non-removable battery which is expected to keep your Android device from yelling for the charger every time you turn your back on it. Next up is the price tag, which considering what’s under the hood, is quite modest at $107 (Around INR 7000).
Redmi 3 is expected to be available in Fashion Gold, Fashion dark gray, Fashion silver and Classic Gold colours.
Well, we certainly like what we have seen so far and all things considered, the device may just end up becoming a favorite with the mid-range seeker crowd. For now, lets wait for the official unveiling a couple of days away, when the remaining details associated with the Redmi 3 — including availability — will come to light.
