PlanetGoGo, yet another mobile application which provides aggregated news like so many other out there, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed, from HT Media Ltd., along with the participation of North Base Media. The company will now utilize the freshly raised funds to expand its user base.

The company, which is just around three months old, has already tied up with over 60 publishing partners for a wide range of news categories.

It is using a different strategy for acquiring users. While many news portals charges users, Planet GoGo is offering reward to the users as ‘GoGo Points’. It is providing free talktime to the users once the content is read or even when the handset is unlocked.

To provide rewards to the users, the company has also partnered with all the major telecom operators in the country, including Airtel and Vodafone. The company makes money by publishing advertisements on its platform.

Established in September 2015, the company launched its mobile application in November this year. As per the company, it is a first of its kind lock screen app that delivers personalized content and news to its users.

Currently, the platform is witnessing more than 150 articles daily across around 14 categories which ranges from technology, food, Bollywood, fashion, sports, news and life to start-ups, automobile and travel. As of now, the content is available in only English language, but the company will soon roll out other languages support also, starting from Hindi.

Commenting about the funding, Rajat Gupta, co-founder at Planet GoGo, said,

With the ever increasing number of smartphone users, GoGo focuses to revolutionize content consumption for mobile users without having them to spend for it. A large part of the population today rely on apps for everyday content needs and GoGo provides users with curated quality content on-the-go.

Marcus Brauchli, managing partner of NBM, said,

GoGo is focussing on an enormous market opportunity. Its vision of delivering relevant content to large audiences in a high-impact setting makes incredible sense.
