Jigsaw academy, a platform which helps users learn the arts behind data analytics, has raised $3 million in its first round of funding from Manipal Global Education.

TV Mohandas Pai, MaGE Chairman and former Director at InfoSys have also invested an undisclosed amount in his personal capacity and will join the board of Jigsaw Academy as an advisor.

The company will use the funds to expand its product portfolio as well as its global presence in markets including US, UK, Australia and the Middle East. It is also looking forward to more corporate tie-ups to provide data analytics training to professionals.

This funding that we have received will help us take bigger steps in the global market more aggressively while opening up more corporate training opportunities,

said Gaurav Vohra, co-founder and CEO, Jigsaw Academy.

Vohra feels, that there is great potential in the analytics and big data training market in India and abroad. Sarita Digumarti who is also a co-founder and COO of Jigsaw, said

All other countries except for the United States, including Italy, Philippines etc are lagging behind India in terms of data analytics skill set, so we think there is a big opportunity to tap that market.

Founded in 2011 by Vohra and Sarita Digumarti, Jigsaw Academy offers various courses in data analytics and big data. The courses are offered at different levels such as beginner, intermediate and advanced according to individual current skill level.

It also provides training in big data to people from corporates through its specialised courses in sectors such as retail, e-commerce, human resources and supply chain.  Since its inception, the company claims to have trained about 40,000 students from 30 countries and over more than 100 corporates and IT giants across different verticals.

The investor in Jigsaw, MaGE which is a part of Manipal Global group, also offers similar corporate training, vocational training, and other technology-based courses in testing and education delivery.

At MaGE, professional certification is the next big foray for us and this investment is a significant step in that journey,

said S Vaitheeswaran, MD and CEO, MaGE.

Mohandas Pai voiced a similar opinion on his decision to join Jigsaw Academy as investor and board member. He said that the demand of such skills was increasing tremendously.

Trained professionals who understand the right approach to applying analytics will drive new value propositions across industries and companies of all sizes,

said Pai.
