During the IFA, a month ago, Samsung had teased a massive Android tablet named the Galaxy View. Today, the tech giant has finally unveiled the device.

The huge device sports a gargantuan screen measuring 18.4-inches diagonally which, Samsung says, is “the largest Android mobile device on the market.” (And for now, it stands true.) The new ‘tablet’ has been specifically designed for people who are media hungry and want to use their mobile device for watching videos.

The specific use-case gargantuan tablet sports a Full-HD display along with stereo speakers, and a two-way stand. According to Samsung, and also the way the device seems to be, the hardware has been designed keeping video watching in mind.

The homescreen and other software features also seem to be altered for this one specific use. You can see a number of video platforms, including Netflix, Hulu, Twitch, Crackle and YouTube highlighted on the homescreen which also suggest that Samsung could be in for a number of partnerships because of this device.

At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience,

said JK Shin, CEO and head of Samsung’s IT and mobile business.

We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment.

The device is powered by a battery, which the company says, will easily provide up to eight hours of video playback. While the Galaxy View weighs 2.25 kg and may not seem like the best bet on portability, it also houses a SIM-card slot for you to stream videos when you are on the go.

The company hasn’t yet released any details on the pricing as well as release date of this massive Android device, but it’s expected to launch sooner than later.
