Its been only two weeks since Apple opened its iPhone 6 and 6S for pre-order, but guess what? The company has managed to sell over 13 million devices within only 3 days of availability.
Yes sir, as staggering as the numbers sound, they are 100 percent true and have been confirmed by none other than Apple itself. With this, the company has managed to top its own record of selling 10 million devices, set last year, by a comfortable margin of over 3 million handsets. However, the company is not stopping here and will launch the iPhone 6 in 40 additional countries on the 9th of October.
Also, one of the world’s largest smartphone markets, China, was not included in the initial rollout. So, with China and a whole bunch of other countries yet to go, well…..lets just say Apple is in for a pretty good year.
While the folks over at Apple expected good response from the customers, even they seem a bit surprised by the sheer number of sales in such a short period of time. Tim Cook, Apple CEO,described the sales as ‘phenomenal’ adding that,
Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,
said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.
If the device hasn’t released in your country yet and you are feeling left out, don’t worry. Apple has promised to release them in 130 countries by the year-end. The schedule for iPhone 6 and 6S release in the month of October is as follows:
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will roll out worldwide to more than 40 additional countries and territories beginning October 9 including Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan. On October 10, countries include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in India, Malaysia and Turkey on Friday, October 16.
Sales in these countries are bound to give Apple a further boost, when it sits down to showcase the iPhone 6s performance at its next quarterly earnings investor call to be held in mid October.
