Looking to capitalize on the 4G wave that is on the verge of crashing into India, Samsung has introduced a brand new, entry-level 4G enabled device, for the Indian market. Say hello to Samsung Galaxy J2.
Samsung India Electronics announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy J2 today and with it, added what may prove to be an important player, to the growing 4G smartphone market in India. The device has been tailor-made — with major inputs from Samsung’s Indian R&D facilities — while specifically keeping the country in mind and comes with several in-built features, that consumers on the subcontinent are quite likely to love.
For example, the device packs an Ultra Data Saving Mode, which allows you to save up to 50% data and also increases the total battery standby time by up to 2X.
Speaking on the topic, Mr. Asim Warsi, Vice President, Marketing, IT & Mobile at Samsung India, said
The Galaxy J2 reinforces our commitment to ‘Make for India’. Ultra Data Saving Mode, which is the key feature in the device, has been developed at our Indian R&D facilities to deliver the most cost efficient 4G device.
Not only does the J2 rock 4G, it also comes equipped with a Download Booster that combines 4G speeds with WiFi speeds to deliver downloads that are faster than even 4G.
Lets check out the phone specifics next. The Galaxy J2 is a dual-sim device that packs a 1.3 GHz QC Exynos 3475 processor under a 8.4 mm, sleek body with premium metallic finish and faux-leather back panels. The phone comes with a 5/2 MP rear/front camera combo and has the latest Android 5.1, pre-installed. The whole parcel is powered by a 2000 mAH battery.
Galaxy J2 is available in several variants that range from 1 GB to 8 GB RAM and also promises an immersive experience with a large 4.7 inch qHD super AMOLED screen. With another innovation on Samsung’s part, the J2 has a spanking new ‘Smart Manager’ installed that does exactly what you think it does — Optimizes your device and ensures the maximum possible performance.
While 4G usage in India is still in the growth phase, with most relying upon 2G or 3G services — thanks to, in some measure, the expensive 4G models as well as data prices — the new J2 should probably prompt many to consider making the switch to a faster network.
The device will be available for sale starting September the 21st across all channels, and comes at a pretty attractive price of INR 8,490.
