UrbanClap, the mobile marketplace for a vast range of professional services, has reached the $10 million in monthly transactions mark on its platform. It is now one of the fastest growing internet company from India which reached this mark just within 6 months since the launch of its mobile app.

The start-up enables users to find any service professional like a plumber, a wedding photographer, a yoga teacher, or an interior designer. Aiming to be the go-to platform, for urban lives, it provides everything from designing their homes to filing taxes.

It was founded in 2014 by Varun Khaitan, Raghav Chandra and Abhiraj Bhal, the company is currently testing two new platform models – one for blue-collar services like electric work or home cleaning where it directly picks the best available personnel and another for professional services like photographers, interior designers or yoga instructors where it takes in the customer request and with help of an algorithm, gives a choice of sellers to the customer to pick from.

UrbanClap has more than 10,000 professionals on it’s platform across four cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. It is going to expand the categories of services in the next two months and then it will expand its operations to other cities.

Detailing more about the usage metrics, UrbanClap says that over half of the users on its mobile app are women, with its transaction size is doubling every month.

Having raised $11.4 million in funding till now, the company is backed by SAIF Partners, Rohit Bansal, Kunal Bahl and Accel Partners. It competes with LocalOye, Taskbob, Housejoy, etc.
