Kindle Scout, Amazon’s reader sourced publishing platform for writers has now been made available to authors across the globe. The platform, which first came into existence for the US market in 2014, will now seek to provide a publishing platform for writers around the world.

Expanding our platform to authors and readers outside the U.S. has been one of the most frequent requests we’ve received since we launched. With today’s announcement, we’re eagerly awaiting the great new stories that will come from opening to even more talented writers and Scouts from around the world,

said Dina Hilal, General Manager of Kindle Scout.

Readers get access to unpublished books through Kindle Scout, uploaded by writers. Based on their readers’ liking, the book goes for publishing through the Kindle Press. The platform is a great way for writers to get recognized and publicize the work, without going through the trouble of going through actual press and editorial hammer.

After going through a few snippers from unpublished books, readers choose which book should get published by Amazon.

Budding and established writers who have completed their work, can submit it on the Kindle Scout platform. However, even though the platform is available across the globe, currently it supports English language titles. Once backed by a majority of readers, and approved by Amazon, the books are published in a eBook format in less than two months.

Amazon also added that the publishing contract entails an advance payment of $1500 along with a royalty of 50 percent.

Nominations give us an idea of which books readers think are great; the rest is up to the Kindle Scout team who then reviews books for potential publication.

the company stated on its blog.

Amazon has already given a go-ahead for 75 titles for publication since the launch of the platform.

The contract from Amazon also provides for an easy rights reversions and featured Amazon marketing for the titles. One of the first titles to be published by Kindle Press was Eddie and Sunny by Stacey Cochran.
