Bangalore-based gifting and value card solutions start-up Qwikcilver, has announced a mobile-exclusive online gifting store Woohoo.in, which it claims, is India’s first such project offering an integrated mobile responsive store.

The company, backed by the likes of AmazonAsia, earlier had Giftbig.com as its front-end for enabling consumers and corporate to purchase gift cards and vouchers of various brands, has evolved into Woohoo.in, which is mobile responsive (the need of the hour, truth be told) and let users conduct transactions and gift their loved ones right through their smartphones.

The portal is present in nearly 400 cities in India and is strengthening its foothold into international markets day by day. The platform offers choices among a whopping 150+ brands, both online and offline, spanning across more than two dozen gifting categories like clothing, jewellery, household needs, etc. Just in case you were wondering, users can gift services to others as well. By which we mean a spa or a cinema experience.

Last year, the company raised $10 million in a funding round led by e-retail giant Amazon. The firm’s existing investors Helion Venture Partners and Accel Partners also participated in the round.

The startup was founded in 2008 by the duo of Pratap and Kumar Sudarshan. It has a Software-as-a-Service model (SaaS), enabling customers to launch the stored value card program with minimal upfront investment and provides suite of services to create, deploy and manage and personalise the programme.

Two months back, the company had launched the Android app which facilitated multiple currency acceptance by sellers and allowed currency partners like Oxigen wallet and loyalty rewards programme points under Payback to be accepted across thousands of retailers.

Commenting on the launch, Pratap T.P. Co-founder and CMO, Qwikcilver said,

He further added,

The platform offers a unique Mobile gifting experience with a wide range of gifting options, instant Gifting delivery and multiple modes of gratification.

Giftbig.com, the ecommerce site for Gift cards will seamlessly migrate into Woohoo.in. The consumer base of Giftbig.com would be redirected to our new Woohoo.in site. Woohoo.in is looking at adding 1000+ new brands across categories in the next one year.

The startup, which handles close to 50 million transactions across verticals, competes with Giveter, Indiangiftsportal, Gifts2India, BuddyGifting, Snapdeal-owned Wishpicker, Giftology, Social Buddies and Badhai for a pie of the Rs. 3000 crore and growing online gifting industry in India.

You can access the Android app from here. As of now, it doesn’t support the iOS platform.
