And Amazon has finally kicked off its Sunday delivery service in as many as 100 cities across the country, as the U.S. e-commerce giant goes all guns blazing to take on Flipkart and Snapdeal.
The Amazon India Sunday Delivery service will however be available only for residential addresses, and for all products that are fulfilled by Amazon (FBA). Amazon, at present, offers one day delivery, two day delivery, midnight delivery as well as release day delivery.
Sunday, from now on, will be counted as a delivery day in the cities where Amazon offers its Sunday delivery service now, irrespective of the delivery mode chosen by the customer. The service is to be expanded to further cities in the coming time.
Director, transportation and logistics at Amazon India, Samuel Thomas said –
With our Sunday Delivery promise, customers across 100 cities now have the benefit of getting uninterrupted deliveries of their orders through the week. We are very proud to be the first ones in India to offer Sunday Delivery at this scale.
Amazon has been making a couple of efforts to get a firm grip in Indian market and lure as many customers as they can. Six months back, the e-commerce giant kicked off its release day service and also set up a logistics company in India last month to deliver products directly to consumers. Amazon’s pick-up service has already expanded to over 45 cities across the country.
However, it did take Amazon considerable amount of time to get its Sunday delivery service going. Flipkart is already offering Sunday delivery in a number of cities since last year.
