Facebook is reportedly stepping towards denying all sort of access to its hashtags API and will implement the changes by the end of this month.
The changes have been spotted by Tint, an audience management service that says that Facebook has already started the timer and will put an end to its hashtags API by April 30. The company also notes that they have been receiving numerous errors and the same has been confirmed by Facebook.
Facebook straightforwardly said that it is no longer supporting the API used for hashtags. This simply means that services which plug into the social network will not be able to access hashtag data and statistics.
It’s still unclear why Facebook is denying access to its API a month before the scheduled date. Tint says that it is working a way out with Facebook to bring back the hashtag APl.
