In order to survive this cut throat battle against the likes of Dropbox, Google and Microsoft , Amazon has announced something that seems almost impossible to resist. Amazon has announced two unlimited storage plans for its cloud-based storage service, Amazon Cloud Drive at rock-bottom prices.
The former subscription plans intends to appeal to those who are seeking for a cloud storage to dump their pile of photographs and costs only $11.99 a year. Along this unlimited photo upload subscription plan, Amazon is also offering a 5GB extra storage for other format files. This plan certainly sounds great for photographers who deal with a great number of photographs.
The other one cost $59.99 per year and offers unlimited storage for all kind of file formats. You won’t need to worry about balance storage and will be allowed to upload as many files to cloud as you can.
If you any sort of pricing issues with these plans, just compare them with Dropbox’s 1TB Pro plan that costs $99 per year. Microsoft’s Office 365 Personal plan includes unlimited OneDrive storage and one installation of Office for $70 per year. An Office 365 Home plan includes unlimited storage for five users, plus five Office installs, for $100 per year.
To your amazement, both plans come with a three-month free trial. Amazon’s prime members already get unlimited photo upload storage. Hence, the service will continue to run at free of cost for them.
The difference in the service you will find is that Amazon doesn’t have any sort of automatic sync software for desktop version and will prompt you to manually upload your files and folders. However, this is not the case with Android or iOS and an application to maintain a automatic back up will be available.
