While Adobe’s cloud solutions have majorly been focussed towards its creative cloud platform, the company today re-assured how important its document business is, by announcing Adobe Document Cloud, which helps you take all of your PDFs to Cloud, and share/create/re-adapt them on the go.

Adobe says that its Document Cloud solution builds on the success of its Creative and Marketing Clouds, which is quite appropriate, considering that its Creative Cloud platform has gain significant traction and is being used by designers extensively.

Document Cloud has been designed, by keeping the all-new Adobe Acrobat DC as it centrepiece, which will take e-signatures mainstream by delivering free e-signing as part of the integrated solution.

Adobe Document Cloud consists of a set of integrated services that use a consistent online profile and personal document hub.  Users will be able to create, review, approve, sign and track documents whether on a desktop or mobile device. Acrobat DC, with a touch-enabled user interface, will be available both via subscription and one-time purchase.

Bryan Lamkin, Senior VP of Technology and Corporate Development at Adobe says,

People and businesses are stuck in document-based processes that are slow, wasteful, and fragmented. While most forms of content have successfully made the move to digital (books, movies, music), documents and the process of working with them have not, and that needs to change.

Though Adobe did give us a real pain-killer, when it introduced the PDF document format, the company has lately been at the receiving end of criticisms, for not bringing a next-gen update to the same format. While PDF has  become the mainstream document format across all genres (including Governments), it was high time that a new, serious upgrade had to be brought in.

Adobe’s Document is quite possibly, that upgrade which we have been wanting for quite some time. The new Document Cloud includes several features, like Acrobat DC, Anywhere-e signing of documents, dedicated mobile applications and improved document management.

With Acrobat DC, users get a  simplified and quick access to the tools they use most. And, Acrobat DC uses Photoshop imaging magic to convert any paper document into a digital, editable file that can be sent for signature, something, which would prove to be hugely effective, specially to enterprise users of Adobe’s Acrobat solution.

Apart from all those features, Adobe has also announced that Document Cloud’s e-Sign services integrates with Adobe Experience Manager Forms to provide seamless experiences to customers across Web and mobile sites. In the future, Adobe will integrate key components of Adobe Marketing Cloud to help businesses test, measure and manage documents, providing the same visibility into usage and interactions with documents that marketers already have with digital marketing assets today.

Adobe Document Cloud and Acrobat DC are expected to be available within 30 days. By subscribing to Acrobat today for only $14.99 a month, customers will automatically receive new Acrobat DC and the Document Cloud as soon as it is available.
