Twitch has finally come up with its much teased news and announced that it will hold its own gaming convention later this year called, TwitchCon.

Twitch is a live streaming video platform acquired by Amazon for nearly $970 million. Introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv, the site primarily focuses on video gaming, including playthroughs of video games by users, broadcasts of e-sports competitions, and other gaming-related events.

As announced by Twitch, the event will take place on September 25-26 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. Notably, this is the same venue that hosts the Game Developers Conference.

Twitch CEO Emmett Shear said –

Twitch broadcasters have the most passionate fans, so we want to create an amazing experience where they can come together in person. TwitchCon will be an opportunity for the entire community–broadcasters, game developers, viewers, and us–to play and learn together.

Twitch has also flagged off a website and a Twitter account dedicated to TwitchCon. The event will be organized by ReedPop, the group that also puts together big-name shows such as PAX and New York Comic-Con, among others. Rest all information is still wrapped under the sheets and will be revealed shortly.
