Since the launch of the Android Lollipop, every Android user has been flooding the web with a common query- ‘Will my phone get an update to Android Lollipop ?‘. Rollout for Lollipop has been fast as compared to previous versions, but user adoption rate has been dead slow.

Well, for now, HTC One M8 and M7 (Google Play Edition)  holders can rejoice. The much awaited Android 5.0.1 Lollipop has received Google’s technical approval and is now available for download over the air.

Mo Versi the VP of Product Management at HTC, announced via tweeter within the hour that the roll out of the GPe edition of the One M8 has finally been approved and is en-route.

The HTC One M8 (Google Play edition) was initially scheduled for the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop on November 21st and was delayed due to pending approval from Google.  Last week, Mo versi via twitter solaced M8 and M7 users and informed about the update being Google’s QA lab for approval. Now that the update is all ready , it has started to appear on the respective devices.

The update package can also be installed manually though zip files if you have played around with your device.  Users who have custom ROM installed on their devices should turn back to their stock ROM in order to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
