Certain LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition users have claimed to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update, making LG G pad 8.3 the first GPE device to get the update. However, the roll out is staggered as only a subset of LG G Pad 8.3 users have been able to get their hands on the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The tablet received its last update Android 4.4.4 in June and has recorded a declining sales for the past few months. However, it has not lost support from the manufacturers and Lollipop update might rise the sales chart.

Coming over to the requirements, the update requires at least 500MB of free storage space and a good internet connection to proceed. Make sure to back up your device before freeing some space and installing the update. The update is rolling out over-the-air, and should reach your device in the next few days if it hasn’t already.

The update can also be installed through Zip file if you like to play around with your device’s ROM. There are different requirements to do the same and might result to unwanted state. Users who have custom ROM installed on their devices should turn back to their stock ROM in order to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 (Google Play edition) are also scheduled to receive the update this week. Check out the post here.
