Galaxy Note 4 gap, a “manufacturing necessity’ : Samsung

Further entangling itself in the #gapgate incident, Samsung, in a manual which arrived for the European handsets, has itself admitted that the Gap is not uncommon, and is a “manufacturing necessity”.

The manual’s script, first reported by Android Central, mentions,

A small gap appears around the outside of the device case. This gap is a necessary manufacturing feature and some minor rocking or vibration of parts may occur. Over time, friction between parts may cause this gap to expand slightly.

This outright acceptance of the fact that the gap is a “necessary feature” has caused further troubles for Samsung. This is because, such statements in company’s official manual, will definitely make customers ponder over the build quality, which Samsung has to offer in its most premium device yet.

Moreover, Samsung has also said, that “over time”, friction may cause the gap to expand, “slightly”. This statement itself, looks as if Samsung is accepting the manufacturing fault, which is present in Galaxy Note4. This also hints towards the fact that Samsung might not have the expertise in producing devices, which have metal on them (Galaxy Note 4 sports an all-aluminium side frame).

In a response to Android Central, a Samsung spokesperson has said,

The reported issue does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4. We assure our customers that all Galaxy Note 4 units meet our strict manufacturing and quality control standards
