Only six months after the launch of the Xperia Z2, Sony introduces another entrant to its Xperia Z family, “Xperia Z3”. Sony has instigated four super models in this series till now.
The Xperia Z3 smartphone comes at a extortionate price of Rs 51,990 . The company also unveiled its younger sibling Xperia Z3 Compact priced at Rs 44,990.
The two smartphones have the same Full HD resolution. The Z3 comes with a 5.2-inch display, while the Z3 Compact has a smaller 4.6-inch display. This smartphone can push the brightness to 600 candela, the highest among smartphones, as said by Sony.
Both the phones follow Sony’s Omni-balance design. The Xperia Z3 uses aluminium on sides whereas the Z3 compact comes with plastic sides. Both phones have scratch resistant glass on the front and rear. The sharp rectangular design has been transfigured, with curved sides and corners replacing chiselled edges for the first time. Sony says this design is intended to make the Z3 resistant to damage when dropped. This way corners can absorb some impact, reducing the probability of front and rear glass to shatter.
Comparing the hardware, Sony Xperia Z3 appears to have only a minor upgrade over its predecessor. The Sony Xperia Z3 runs on the same quad-core 2.5GHz MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chip. This powerful SoC comes along with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. Though a minor upgrade, these specifications should still offer you effortless user experience, and some intense gaming.
Connectivity features on the Xperia Z3 include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi with hotspot, 3G, 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Glonass, Micro-USB, DLNA, and NFC. It features a 3100mAh battery which Sony claims would deliver up to 19 hours of talk time, and 740 hours of standby time. Sony says both smartphones have 4G LTE support for Indian bands.
Sony has appended a new lens and some effective Cyber-shot elements to the camera firmware. The camera can go up to ISO 12800 for low-light captures, and there’s a 1/2.3-inch sensor with Sony’s proprietary processing tech. The lens is a wide-angle 25mm one, for shots that include more subject matter. Video recording goes up to 4K, though 1080p is the default. Photos are taken at 8-megapixels resolution by default, which can be stepped up to 20.7 megapixels any time.
Though the device lacks certain intricate yet common upgrades these days, like fingerprint sensor and the dual rear camera , Xperia Z3 has the potential to go head to head in the Smartphone market. The smartphone is available in Black, Copper, and White colours, with Copper being the flagship color. Z3 meausres 146.5 x 72 x 7.3 mm and weighs 152 grams. Both the new devices have the aptness to be in water for about 30 minutes. Stay Tuned for our full review of this latest Sony flagship
