Instagram’s direct messaging feature has received a couple of upgrades that will allow you to use it to do stuff like send external web links, send pictures and videos in their original aspect ratios and so on. This way, the company is making sure that users don’t leave the Instagram app for any reason — except to go pee!
Now, whenever you pop a link into the messaging window, inline previews will come up instantly. Similarly, allowing users to send pictures and videos in their original aspect ration is something that will save users a lot of trouble both while sending and viewing content — considering that this is how people prefer using content these days.
All of the features are being made available to Instagram directs’ 375 million or so users. While the user base is not that large (a matter of perspective, its still twice the userbase Snapchat has) giving the messaging service abilities like these is a smart move that will keep users engaged for longer.
iOS features have already started receiving the new feature. Android users may have to wait just a tad longer.
There’s also an information that direct message on instagram PC will be shortly released in a couple of days which is mostly said to be available only for Windows 10 users.
