Gogoro is partnering with COUP, a subsidiary of Bosch, to bring its e-scooter service to Paris with 600 Smartscooters.

Before this, both them entities had partnered to roll out the service in Berlin in August 2016 with 200 Smartscooters. The pilot test went on to become successful, owing to which the number of scooters rose up to 1000 in March 2017. Mat Schubert, CEO of COUP Mobility GmbH, in a statement, said,

Gogoro has been supporting with features to make our innovative sharing service even better and more user-friendly. We are confident Parisians will enjoy the ease of use and overall experience.

Akin to the operations in Berlin, the service will be available in few central Paris districts. However, it can be used by someone, of legal age, with a Class B driver’s license or an international driver’s license.

The service is pretty simple to use – one needs to install the COUP app to locate and book the nearest Smartscooter. The users can take an e-scooter, ride to the desired destination and end their rental by parking them in dedicated two-wheel parking zones within the COUP service area.

The app will be available in summer 2017 in French for iOS and Android. The price model, as a press statement says, will be straightforward. The customers will be charged in 30-minute increments, known as rides.

Paris is one of the most congested cities in Europe with a very high traffic density. Together, COUP and Gogoro aim to deliver positive alternatives to urban mobility that can be available to all city residents. Horace Luke, co-founder, and CEO of Gogoro, stated,

Gogoro and COUP are focused on delivering new services that encourage consumer adoption of more sustainable transportation choices like the Smartscooter. The COUP e-scooter sharing model has been proven successful in Berlin and we are looking forward to introducing it in Paris this summer with the same success.
