YouTube initially allowed people with 10,000 subscribers to live stream to their followers. The company first opened this feature to the masses in February and it is now allowing ore people to join the train. YouTube has decided to set the bar a little lower and now, broadcasters with 1,000 subscribers can also live stream directly to their channel from their smartphones.

So now, if you have 1,000 or more subscribers on your YouTube channel, you can get busy and start broadcasting to them over live streams directly from your smartphone. As per the YouTube support page, the requirements for a live stream from your smartphone are as follow:

Confirm that your channel is verified and that you have no live stream restrictions in the last 90 days.

Note: For YouTube live on mobile, your channels must have over 1,000 subscribers.

Meanwhile, here are the steps you need to follow if you want to go live:

  1. Select the capture button.
  2. Select GO LIVE.
  3. Create title, then select a privacy setting.
  4. Select next to take a picture for your thumbnail. You can upload a custom thumbnail (iOS only)
  5. Select GO LIVE.
  6. To end a stream select FINISH, then OK. An archive of the live stream is created on your channel after the stream ends.
  7. You can edit the privacy setting (including setting it to private) or delete the archive on the my videos page.

The move can be viewed in light of the increasing importance of live videos across the Internet.
