Tenzo, a data-driven hospitality tech platform, has raked in £600,000 in a Seed round led by Acequia Capital, Force Over Mass and angel investors Charlie Songhurst, Michael Orland and Getti Restaurants. A Techstars alumni, the firm participated in the London 2016 cohort.

The firm, based in London, is pioneering a unique and timely platform to help restaurants (as well as any brick ‘n’ mortar retailer) receive real-time data insights on how they and their staff are performing.

For example, Tenzo can help a restaurant manager or owner to predict demand: how many people to staff and when or how much food to order. The platform can also be used to get an insight into which staff are performing best, about up-selling or driving positive social media mentions, or even to know which location is performing best or what menu item should be de-listed.

The idea behind it is that this data is delivered in a timely and actionable manner, fuelled by Tenzo being mobile-first, but also in the sense that the platform plugs into and makes sense of other data sources and software a restaurant runs its business on top of, such as POS systems, scheduling software or social media. Christian Mouysset, co-founder of the firm, said:

The amount of data that restaurants generate is exploding and technology is fragmented. This makes it hard for restauranteurs to make informed decisions. Tenzo connects to a restaurant’s sources of data, analyses the data and delivers simple actionable insights to the in-store team members at the right time on mobile or web.

Tenzo plans to use the funds to expand internationally, increase its staff count and improve its proprietary technology platform. Mouysset continued:

We’re excited to have investors on board who will provide us not only with capital, but also vast strategic experience in our market. With their deep knowledge in both the hospitality and technology space, we know everyone involved in our Seed round will be a great asset to us, as we continue to scale our business globally.

Tenzo claims to have worked with restaurants across 100 locations in the UK and US with current customers including Getti Restaurants, Upham Group, Macellaio RC and Chillango.
