xperia xzs

After announcing the Xperia XZs smartphone at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, Sony has now launched the device in India. Priced at Rs 49,990, the smartphone will be available for pre-order from today until 11th April at all Sony Centers, select retail outlets, and on Flipkart.

The Sony Xperia XZs comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p screen with a 2.5D curved glass running over the top. It is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor, which is slightly disappointing as the XZ Premium comes with the mighty Snapdragon 835.

The SD 820 is a quad-core 64-bit 14nm processor with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory with a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 256GB. The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat right out of the box.

It features the same camera as of Xperia XZ Premium — 19-megapixel Motion Eye lens at the back. This means that it can also do the 960-frames-per-second slow-mo video. Since it captures larger pixels, Sony says low light performance has improved as well.

The camera has Predictive and Laser autofocus, plus an RGBC-IR sensor for natural color rendering. On the front, there’s an impressive 13MP (1/3.06”) sensor with a 22mm wide-angle lens.

The phone carries Sony’s signature feature — water resistance. Instead of glass on both sides, the Xperia XZs has got a metal back. It also packs DSEE HX, LDAC, Digital Noise Cancelling, and a Fingerprint sensor for extra security.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Further, the device gets power from a 2900mAh battery with Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology support.

While Sony has launched Xperia XZs in the Indian market, there is no word on whether the Japanese giant will bring the other three devices — XZ Premium, Xperia XA1, and Xperia XA1 Ultra, to India as well or not.
