Cloud-based telephony company Knowlarity Communications has today announced that it has appointed Ajay Shrivastava as its new Chief Technology Officer. He has been brought on board from budget hotel room aggregator Oyo, where he was appointed as head of technology.

Brought on board just last month, Shrivastava will basically be responsible for building Knowlarity’s current technology product. He’ll also work with the company’s engineering teams to develop innovative new products. Talking about his appointment, Shrivastava told ET,

While my primary job will be to take care of the products and engineering team to ensure high speed execution, going forward as a company we will also be focussing on enhancing customer experience through our products.

It is important for B2B (business-to-business) companies to focus on customer experience as done in consumer-facing businesses. This is extremely important for brand pull.

Prior to joining Knowlarity, he was leading a 100-member strong engineering team at Gurugram-based hotel aggregator Oyo Rooms. They were responsible for building innovative products across segments such as demand, marketing, supply, operations, and finance among others. In his two-year long stint, he helped the company expand its presence from less than 5 cities to the current 200. It was also due to continued growth in technology that led Oyo to expand its hotel base to over 7,000.

He is also bringing his decade-long experience building innovative new technology products at multinational giants such as Microsoft, Adobe, Intel and LinkedIn-owned Slideshare. He also holds a masters degree in computer science from IIIT Bangalore.
